Tom yum is Thailand’s hot-and-sour soup — lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaf and chili, sharpened with lime and built to hit sour, spicy and savory at the same time. Phở is Vietnam’s beef noodle soup, clear and slow-built and aromatic. They are two different traditions with two different logics.

Thai Tom Yum Pho is what happens when the same kitchen runs both. It is not a Vietnamese restaurant’s idea of Thai food or a Thai restaurant’s idea of pho — it is a bowl that requires both programs to be genuinely operating in the same room.

Ordering It Here

This is our house signature, item PT, and it is the dish we would point a first-time visitor at. A Google reviewer put it better than we would: “best tasting broth I’ve ever had… the perfect balance of acidity, sweetness, savory.”

It is served as a noodle soup and sits in the phở section of the menu. A single-cuisine kitchen down the road cannot truthfully put it on a menu, which is most of why it is on ours.

We have not published a written description or a fixed heat rating for it, so if you want to know exactly what is in the bowl or how hot it runs, call (253) 267-1637 and ask.

Questions People Ask

Thai Tom Yum Pho, answered

What is Thai Tom Yum Pho?
A noodle soup that crosses Thai tom yum — the hot-and-sour broth built on lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime and chili — with the Vietnamese phở format. It is our house signature, item PT, and it exists because this kitchen runs a full Vietnamese program and a full Thai program under one roof.
How is it different from regular pho?
Phở is a clear, gently spiced beef broth — aromatic rather than sharp. Tom yum is hot and sour, driven by lemongrass, lime and chili. This bowl takes the tom yum flavor profile into a noodle soup, so it is considerably more sour and more assertive than the pho on the same page.
Is Thai Tom Yum Pho the same as tom yum soup?
No. Tom yum soup is usually served as a soup course, often with shrimp. This is a full noodle-soup bowl in the phở section of our menu.
How spicy is it?
Tom yum is a chili-based broth, so it carries heat by definition. We have not published a 0–5 rating for this bowl the way we do for the Thai curries and stir-fries, so call (253) 267-1637 and ask if heat matters to you.
How much is Thai Tom Yum Pho?
